This past week was full of surpises and amazing things!!!! One is that we were featured in Latina Magazine!!!!!!! Little by little we are seeing all of our hard work coming to life!!!! Thank you Latina Magazine and Amaris Castillo for this amazing honor! here is the article!

We are soooooooooooooooooo happy to announce that we won the Duricimo Latin Award for Agrupacion o'Cantante Del Ano Femenina or in English Female Group of the Year!!!!! woooo hooooooo!!! we were not expecting that at all..........Judy and I were in complete shock there are no words to express how we felt at that moment!!!!!! Thank you to Johnny and Gisselle Acevedo for having this amazing award show the first in Westchester. We had such a great time we were able to meet some of the cast of La Barberia special shouts to funny man Ruperto Vanderpool he is awesome! Among others that were there El Pacha, Yunel Cruz, DJ Anuedy, DJ Jinxx Paul, DJ Gaby Fusion, Ravel, Las Doncellas, Dalia Davi (whom one Female Actress of the year she was in El Tiempo de las Mariposas at el Repertorio Espanol which I saw and I must say she is AMAZING), Monchy y Natalia who where soooo nice un placer concerlos! Hello amores!!!! bueno this week is super busy for us and we couldn't be happier...........I think its even hard for us to believe that this is all happening as much as we have wanted this its still a little unreal!!!!! We will be performing with Toby Love our buddy on Thursday and Friday we are at the Duricimo awards and we were nominated for Female group of the year crossing our fingers we win hahaha!!! Saturday we will return to White Plains at the Lazy Lounge and Sunday we will be at the Locura en Altomar Boat Party in NYC!!!!! So if your in the NY area this weekend come out and party with us!!!!

Well this month has been pretty insane for us but just wanted to share what we have been up to and most exciting is our music video........................We have been working with an amazing team to come up with the most fabulous, chic, lovely video ever!!!!!!!! So you all know we love to keep you updated on all of our shows and of course this week is no different :o) we performed at El Morocco and Lenny and Mikey from Aventura where hosting the event so here are a few pics.......so for those who have been paying attention I have been experimenting with the RED lipstick which I have always adored but have always been scared to use until we did our last photo shoot and our fabulous make up artist Awilda was like please hunnie we just need the right shade and I am proud to say I think I have found the right shade but I will continue exploring ha ha enjoy the pics!!!!!

What can I say we have been going out a lot these past few weeks but its sooooooo much fun reconnecting with old friends and meeting new ones. We were invited to Maffio's MEI release party but my lovely amiga Judy couldn't make it cuz she was a little sick but I sure did have fun ha ha...........at the party I was able to see many people special shouts to 24 Horas, Proyecto Uno, Fulanito, Maffio (of course it was his party ha ha), Stefi Chacon, LMP staff Smurf and Joe Wonder, Gaby Fusion, Edwin Velasquez (thanks for the pics), ESP51 TV Melodee and Rick, DJ Frikkiao, DJ Willie, DJ Lobo, DJ Bacan, Mingo Marrero, Pills from Latin Mixx ayyyyyyy the list goes on and on and on so you can tell I had a hell of a good time haaaaa....enjoy the pics :o)

So fun fun times... I sooooooo love Fashion! I am by no means a fashionista, but I definitely appreciate clothing and love to be around all that stuff. All my closest friends are fashionsitas and love the fashion world. I love when we go shopping and they pick wonderful stuff for me to wear !

More exciting news we told you that we were doing quite a few things but we couldn't talk yet but little by little we will be leaking the information to all of you........We were invited to our first Red Carpet Event woooo hoooooo by Bochinche Bueno Show which is a wonderful show on Urban Latino Radio on Thursdays from 7:00pm-9:00pm. We were interviewed by the their hosts Loca La Boca, Juan Bago, and Mizz Melodie talk about being put on the spot haaaaaaaaa pudimos cantarle un poco de Lloraras y El Me Mintio......we nailed it haaaaa so we are so excited and can't wait to go back on the show next month!!!!!! We also meet a few celebrities and Legends, Frankie Negron was there along with an old friend Toby Love and we got to meet Jose Alberto "El Canario" there where many more up and coming artist as well who are on the grind just like we are. Bachata is a genre of music that originated in the countryside and the rural neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. Its subjects are often romantic; especially prevalent are tales of heartbreak and sadness. In fact, the original term used to name the genre was amargue ("bitterness," or "bitter music"), until the rather ambiguous (and mood-neutral) term bachata became popular. The form of dance, Bachata, also developed with the music.

If you google bachata and come across the Wikipedia for it, Aventura’s name comes up. Aventura, based in New York City, is today the best known bachata group. Their 2002 single "Obsesión" dominated airwaves in Latin America countries, the US Hispanic market, and Caribbean Spanish speaking Islands. The group made history by having the 1^st Bachata group to #1 Single on the Billboard Charts. The song Obsesion sold 1.5 million copies in sales and lasted more than 52 weeks on # 1 on the Latin Billboard charts. One of the most integral voices from this track was Judy Santos’ voice, heard on this track which became an anthem for Latin women all over the world! Following the success of “Obsesion” Judy collaborated with Aventura again and helped Aventura with their second and third # 1 single’s “Angelito” and “La Guerra”.

Marlyn Jimenez took another approach in her start in the music business by already coming from a Music background. In 2005 Marlyn was with a group called “NV” which was sign with Mentao Management which represents Toby Love, ex-member of Aventura. NV was known for their smash hit re-make of No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak”. Marlyn was a shining star in the making with her incredible voice and that sexy Latina look that everyone in the industry was looking for; it helped land an opening spot for shows with The Kings of Bachata, Aventura. At the moment Judy Santos was shopping her demo where it came across Toby Love, that’s where everything came to light and decided to join Marlyn and Judy together. It was an idea that hasn’t been done and it officially made the girls the only girl group singing Bachata Music.

Girlz Talk got discovered in 2008, where they learned their niche and approach on how to make a mark on the Music Industry. Working with Pedro “SP” Polanco, (Toby Love, Notch, Xtreme) the girls started to create music Bachata with an Urban feel but from a woman’s perspective. In a genre dominated by men, a group compromised of these 2 talented women, has been long over due. Evidence to this is the impact that the 2 singles recently released has garnered from their fanbase. Songs like “Lloraras” breakdown the role-reversal of heartaches and breakups in a relationship. But in “Te Voy a Mostrar” they also touch about proving their fidelity and love to their special someone in their life.

These 2 beautiful women have tested these records in Late 2009 touring with Toby Love around the US and abroad and are ready to embark in a successful career full of potential, hard-work and emotions because without the latter, their songs would not come about. They recently signed on with a new management team destined to put in the work to take them to the top.

So I have been listening to Song for You ft. Herbie Hancock and Christina Aguilera from my research I have been able to see it was a remake from another artist but I have not heard the orginial. This was introduced to me by a friend and I fell in love with it from the first chord played on the piano.

I have been in a very reflective mood these past couple of weeks. I couldn't be more proud of where Girlz Talk is headed right now. Judy and I have both endured a lot of hardship along the way but we haven't given up and will not give up. The road has not been an easy one at all I think I have said that 1000 times but these past couple of weeks I have seen it more vividly than ever. Personally our lives have gone on such an emotional rollercoaster I didn't think was possible; but it sure is the reason I have been listening to Song for You I guess it reminds me of what was in my life.

The album is a true testament of our struggles as artist and also the pain that has come along with living our dream. I can't wait for you all to experience our journey because I know this is a journey you all at one point can relate to. Life is truly special that at times I don't understand but I have learned that I am not going to try to figure it out anymore lol but just live my life hope that this helps anyone that is in a reflective state of mind like me!!

The Washington Heights-bred musicians Marlyn Jimenez and Judy Santos of the band Girlz Talk brought their flavor of bachata to the July 7 “Women of Latin Music” showcase presented by BMI’s Verano Alternativo showcase at S.O.B.’s. The showcase series was designed to expose emerging artists to music fans and industry leaders in an effort to support their budding careers. Girlz Talk is currently in the studio with the producer SP, who’s worked with Notch, Xtreme and Toby Love, putting the final touches on their upcoming release that they hope catapults them onto the same international stage as their male bachata counterparts.

Jimenez is perhaps best known for taking the lead vocal on Arjelis y su Grupo NV remake of No Doubt’s “Don’t Speak” in 2003. Santos had already rose to prominence performing with Aventura, taking star turns on the vocals on their hits “Obsession,” “La Guerra” and “Angelito.” Jimenez and Santos first took the stage together in 2003, then joined forces three year later.

Hey everyone so we had a very exciting meeting yesterday.....I am hoping and praying that things are really going in the right direction at this point. I just wanted to share with all of you guys that making music is such a blessing to us but Boy is it HARD!!!!!!!!!

We where asked when we went on the Talent show with Talentino and Denise about three weeks back if there was one thing you could say to your fans or a another girl group that was trying to come up and I expressed that you can't give up! I feel that this has been a dream of mine for many many many years and I know that Judy feels exactly the same we have lost a lot of people along the way and have possibly lost the support of people we thought where never going to leave our sides but like they say when one door closes another one opens! This is a very tough industry but we are pushing beyond the limits to show that we WILL be SUCCESSFUL!!!!!!!!! Thanks to all of you that have supported us and continue to support us everyday. To all of our family and friends that have struggled with us through out the years thank you. Patience is a virtue and we will continue striving until we get to where we want to be!!! Judy Santos and Marlyn Jimenez are taking bachata to new heights! This exceptional New York based female duo, Girlz Talk, is here to achieve the similar levels of success acquired by male artists within the bachata community. “There is no female representation in the urban bachata industry, and who other to do it, than two veterans who have the experience, talent and know how?”
Girlz Talk is consistently in the studio developing and shaping a fresh, new sound that is sure to catch the attention of many. Latin Billboard award winner and former member of Aventura, Toby Love, has been backing up and fully supporting Girlz Talk since the group’s conception, in fact, Girlz Talk is currently gearing up to become the official opening act for Toby Love’s show. You can hear about Girlz talk on Toby Love’s Reloaded DVD.
In 2001 Judy Santos was introduced to Latin Grammy nominated group Aventura. Judy’s incredible voice caught the attention of lead singer Anthony “Romeo” Santos, who immediately featured her on their mega-hit single Obsesion. Some say that Judy’s flawless performance on Obsesion helped pave the way for Aventura’s successful run in the music industry. Her intense, yet sweet and angelic vocals, were also featured on two other Aventura songs; La Guerra and Angelito, both of which were chart topping hits. The music world needed no more proof that Judy has what it takes to capture the hearts of the masses in song.
Marlyn Jimenez has been singing since the tender age of 11 years old. In the summer of 2002 Jimenez was introduced to Arjelis y su Grupo NV, who at that time were in search of a new vocalist. A few months later Jimenez joined them and immediately fit in. The group became one of the top acts of Alternative Bachata in 2003 with their mega- hit single Don’t Speak, a brilliant remake of No Doubt’s chart topping song. Marlyn’s exceptional vocal performance on Don’t Speak gained the attention and support from some of New York’s most popular DJ’s, including Johnny Famolari, Nori Cotto, DJ Fresh , Alex Sensation and Polito Vega. Little did Marlyn know that this was just the beginning of a successful run in her career in music.
n April of 2003 Jimenez and Santos combined their talents on stage during Aventura’s La Guerra single release party. The girl’s performance of the song “Por Un Rato” received rave reviews from those who attended that night, the crowd was blown away! The artistic chemistry of the girls on stage was clearly evident on that day. In 2006 the brilliant idea of Jimenez and Santos working together was introduced to them by their manager, Gilberto Vidal who also manages the successful career of Sony recording artist Toby Love.
